God, persoonlijk of abstract?

Een poging de kloof tussen persoonlijk en abstract te overbruggen. Kan in je spirituele beleving van God-zonder-vorm (abstract), God toch persoonlijk ervaren worden, als een universeel bewustzijn bv? Omgekeerd, kun je een persoonlijk godsbeeld koesteren dat toch abstract is, zoals je zuivere schoonheid als goddelijk kunt ervaren, voorbij je zintuigen? Welke rol heeft het gebed daarin? Met een korte samenvatting.

Abstract. Is the abstract God-ideal in contradiction to the personal God? In prayer Saum one is  expressing oneself in ‘Thy beauty I worship’. Beauty is an abstraction. Nevertheless one is invited to direct one’s heart personally to God as beauty. The bridge is not too far. An inspiring painting, one can be absorbed in it – one will surrender. A fusion of the heart with the spirit. When then speaking the words ‘o Thou, the perfection of (…) beauty’ as they resound in the heart one relates to the personal God through the process of realizing the abstraction. Prayer becomes meditation. Unifying, unification. The Presence envelops your heart and soul.

Is de wil een werking van de mind, het denken?

verkent het idee dat die ‘ene wil van mij’ eigenlijk een samenspel is van wat het lichaam van je wil, of waar je denken in verstrikt zit, of waar je hart iets voorschrijft — in harmonie of in weerspraak. Wat is de rol van de ziel? Staat die ziel in verbinding met de goddelijke wil?

Abstract — The paper is a plea for recognizing the human will as an instrument for the soul as active part of the divine will. It suggests understanding the human will as composed of the bodily will, the mental will and the will of the heart. It seeks ways how to mutually attune them to come into a flow for the soul to guide the human will in accord with the divine will.

Taal / Language: Nederlands / with English abstract

Twee nieuwe berichten die een nieuw bereik verkennen. Een nieuw bereik in twee opzichten: elk haakt aan op een publicatie uit de ‘buitenwereld’, beide uit de wereld van de actuele filosofie. Bovendien is het thema anders dan de meeste bijdragen op deze site. Beide gaan over een emotie, de ene bekijkt de woede (of boosheid), de ander vat de melancholie aan. Nogal actuele thema’s in de samenleving waarop hier een ander perspectief wordt geboden vanuit het universele soefisme van Hazrat Inayat Khan.

Two new posts have just been published where a wider field is explored. Wider in two respects. Both refer to a publication in the ‘outer world’, each of them in the field of practical philosophy. And both enter upon a field which differs from most posts on this site, discussing particular emotions, one on anger, the other on melancholy, issues not often focussed upon in our Sufi literature. Issues of some weight in society nowadays, discussed here in the perspective of universal Sufism of Hazrat Inayat Khan.

Vandaag twee nieuwe posts:  essays over educatie. De inhoud is een bespiegeling op het boek Opvoeding / Education van Hazrat Inayat Khan. Sommigen vinden zijn opvattingen niet meer bij deze tijd passen. Dit essay benadert het andersom:  zijn gedachtengoed biedt juist een nieuw perspectief dat we in deze tijd van culturele crisis zo nodig hebben. Een herijking van waarden. En een tweede omkering: zelf-educatie bij het ouder worden: wat leren we van het kind in zijn verschillende groeifases. Vanuit een speurtocht naar de ziel: de ontdekking van de energie en de straling in het kind. Kunnen we die terugvinden in onszelf? Please consult the other post also.

Today two new posts, this one in English, the other one in Dutch, both on Education, reflecting the teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan. It views education from the perspective of the soul. This implies detecting the expressions of the energy and radiance in the child, throughout its development into adulthood. It interprets the teachings as a new paradigm to face the present cultural crisis. The Dutch paper takes a definite turn in another perspective: what can we rather learn from the child: do we recognize its ardor and enthusiasm as a teaching to ourselves? Een hartelijke wens voor een voorspoedig jaar –

met een krachtige innerlijke balans

om de schokkende emoties uit de wereld op te vangen

in de helderheid van het Licht.

Op de drempel van het nieuwe jaar een aantal nieuwe bijdragen.

Een nieuwjaarswens  in de metafoor van de klinkende kerkklok. Zie: Sayings en voor Nieuwjaarsdag ook hieronder.

Een artikel over het godsbegrip en de verwarring erover. Een zoektocht uit de platte, horizontale wan-idee op zoek naar verticaliteit: omhoog gepaard aan het besef van diepte in je wezen; een bewustzijns oefening: Een zoektocht naar God: een bespiegeling op het godsbegrip in deze tijd. Dit artikel is het sluitstuk in de trilogie van de nu beschikbare stukken die cirkelen over het bewustzijn als sleutel tot het ontdekken van je ziel, het kernstuk van religie; en van de persoonlijke reis naar het licht. Bij voorkeur te raadplegen met als begin het nieuwe stuk Een zoektocht naar God, gevolgd door Bewustzijn met als sluitstuk De ziel als levenskracht. Zo verschenen ze eerder in De Soefi-gedachte.

Beste lezer,

hoe staat het er voor met het blog Sufi Views? Schrijf me eens je ervaring, of suggesties of kritische notities.

Per vandaag gaat  er een nieuwe lijn open binnen Sufi Views, getiteld Bewust worden. De eerste post staat er al, sinds juli in het artikel ‘De ziel als levenskracht’. Het al eerder geplaatste artikel ‘Denken doordacht’ valt ook binnen deze lijn. Vandaag toegevoegd een Engels artikel ‘Body, mind and heart: instruments of the soul’.

In deze lijn zullen in de komende weken posts over ‘Bewustzijn’ en ‘Een zoektocht naar God’ verschijnen. Geleidelijk zullen er nieuwe posts komen over onderwerpen als de ziel, het godsbegrip, bewustzijn, het denken, gevoel en emotie. De nieuwe lijn zal bijdragen bevatten die onder verschillende categorieën (rubrieken) vallen.

‘De ziel als levenskracht’ en ‘Denken doordacht’ zijn eigenlijk voorlopers van het essay What does the soul tell? (dat begin juli is verschenen: zie de kop boven de Welkompost, te bestellen via sunray@hermaardesch.nl.). Een van de inzichten is dat de ziel eigenlijk bewustzijn is. Daarmee ontstaat ook een brug naar het godsbegrip. Overigens zullen ook af en toe hoofdstukken of paragrafen uit het Engelstalige essay hier worden opgenomen. Prettig voor wie het boek nog niet kon bemachtigen, goed om de lijn binnen het nieuwe onderwerp Bewustzijn vast te houden.

Per vandaag: een inleidend stuk uit de ‘Introduction’ van het essay  over  hoe de ziel te ervaren is via het denken en het hart. Een sleuteltekst uit het essay bij de verruiming van het bewustzijn op het innerlijke pad. En om het leven beter te begrijpen.

Verder vraag ik extra aandacht voor twee recente bijdragen:

• een column door Walia van Lohuizen, ‘Tederheid en waakzaamheid’.
• en per vandaag de column ‘Gevoel en emotie’.

You may not know the Dutch language and therefore miss many of the posts. Earlier I have promised English abstracts for many of the posts….. Reality is different, sorry.

Above a new ‘line’ is announced, uniting posts classified sub several categories. Consciousness: becoming aware. The published posts are all in Dutch. Yet, the gist has been elaborated in my essay What does the soul tell. It is announced in the welcome editorial of this site, including how to access the text.

One section from the book you will find among the new articles: The instruments of the soul: body, mind and heart: levels of consciousness, a keynote text on expanding one’s consciousness of inner life. A tool for understanding life better.
